Economics, international trade and public policy

Dr Raed Safadi is an economist with extensive international experience across economic development, international trade and public policy.

His work has included advising governments and institutions on economic policy, diversification, international cooperation and sustainable growth.

Raed has held senior economic-policy responsibilities in Dubai and has worked extensively on the development of policy designed to support economic diversification and a knowledge-based economy.

His earlier career includes experience with the OECD, World Bank and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, together with advisory work for governments, development banks and international institutions.

Raed has written extensively on development economics, international trade, regional trading arrangements, services, global value chains and the international trading system.

He holds a PhD in Economics from Georgetown University.
